Well it's been 2 years without a blog!!

Hi all, I'm back! Not really sure why I ceased blogging? Could have been one of several reasons but life moves on as they say. Jane

Toothache!

I can out up with most pains but this defeats me. I've been tolerating it for 24 hrs now and have accepted that it is not going to go away on it's own so hopefully the dentists receptionist will pick up my 6 am pleading message for an appointment. Dentists are not my favourite folk. Being a health professional I always struggle to understand why you would choose to forage around in peoples mouths.

Catch up time

I've been busy reading lots of other blogs and feeling increasingly guilty for not keeping my own blog up to date.
Work & personal life have been busy lately including the following;
- New chickens acquired and introduced to sole survivor of last group, all now settled in to pecking order and laying eggs (Bluebelle, Amber Star and Speckled) Named Miranda, Pippa & Kate Middleton by the girls!
- Daughters latest assignment for Conservation degree submitted with help from mum! I now know all about the physiological adaptations of cat tail reeds, common Heather and grass snakes...
- much needed trip away in MH over Easter break with dogs despite the showery weather
- new Aran knitting project started
- long overdue trip to Cumbria planned for next month to catch up with much missed friend
- greenhouse packed with seedlings including Kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, sunflowers, beans, cornflowers, radish, salad leaves & much more
- shallots planted

And Chinese meal planned for coming Friday with ex school girl friends - always a good laugh
Have a good week

back to blogging

The blog has been very quiet of late I'm afraid.
been busy with the following;

Tried uploading some pics of my iphone this afternoon but the PC does not want to play so will try on the laptop later.

Funny day today - started off bright and sunny although still nippy so I sorted the hens out and checked the greenhouse - mice had decided to dig up and eat the autumn bulbs I'd planted in the tubs a few weeks ago. Replanted the remainder plus some spares and made them more secure, so far so good.

In the process of knitting Easter chicks for charity so trying to collect odd scraps of wool, felt and ribbon.

Looking for a campsite for August - mad I know as its in the school hols but we went away September last year in the van and the weather was not brilliant. So far looking at South Wales, Suffolk, Dorset...........

Already booked Somerset/South Devon for July and looking forward to a week in Northumbria in May.

off to do wome knitting....
have a good weekend everyone

Where does time go to?

I've just realised I have not posted on my blog since August! This is mainly due to a change in work place, September holidays & just too many senior moments just lately! Plenty has been happening including a road trip in the MH which took in the Borders, Durham, North Yorkshire and finishing in Sandringham, Norfolk. This was then followed by a girly week away with my 2 daughters in Cyprus. I will post some pics when I get on the laptop this week. Garden wise most tasks have involved composting plants that have finished producing including a good greenhouse clear out which was very therapeutic. Just popped some tulip bulbs in tubs today so something to look forwardto next year. The garlic is in the ground too but not planting the rest of the raised beds as they will have to be moved when work starts on the new build. Also got a rat problem to sort out, the little buggers get round the back if the shed on the field side and they are sending the dogs mad! One big treat in store this week will be the arrival of my 'new' car! I have decided not to take on another work lease car and have found a VW beetle with a soft top - ok so it may be my mid life crisis ........... Have a good week everyone.

Fund raising

Just a quick blog.

Yesterday I spent a sunny 4 hours selling my excess plants to raise funds for the Stroke Association helped by my Mum and my sister. Plants on offer included Thyme, Basil, Lavender, Sunflowers, Asters, Echinacea, Spearmint, Zinnias, Spider plants, Sage, Verbascum.

So far I have raised £34! more than I expected.

I'm thinking of having another go soon but need to spread the word more first as this weekend was a last minute decision in the end.
Have a good week everyone
