Swans with cygnets on the canal

Last week we had a trip in the 'van to North and South Devon with Percy Pug and Sacha. The first 3 days were spent near Tiverton at Sampfrod Peverell - what a lovely name for a village. The village sits by the Grand Western Canal and gave us the opportunity for lots of level walking and the chance to see lots of wildlife. We were lucky to spot a Red Kite when walking over to Halberton which made Paul's day as he loves raptor spotting.

We moved onto South Devon and stayed near Slapton Sands. This part of the coastline was a first for us and it really is beautiful. The roads are narrow and twisty but all the better as it slows you down and allows you to take in the scenery.

Slapton village was a 5 minute walk from the site and so was the nature reserve at Slapton Ley. It is ideal walking country whilst only being a stones throw from the 2 village pubs and the local village 'tardis' shop. We met some lovely local people including a lady who fell in love with Percy - she bred and showed Pugs in her younger days and she said we had made her day ! bless her.

We love Devon too, we#ve been to a little village near Plymouth called 'Noss Mayo' for a week in April the last two years and wish we could live there it's so beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, thanks for sharing :)
Hi
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a comment. Devon and Dorset coastlines are some of our favourites. We like to visit a different bit each trip we make.
