Just a few pics of my week away in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, Scotland. The village is approx 20 miles from Aberfeldy and sits at the foot of Schiehallion 'fairy mountain'. There is a village shop/post office, couple of churches, Dunalistair Hotel and the holiday lodges near to the MacDonald Hotel on the road out to Rannoch station (on Rannoch Moor 18 miles away).
The weather ranged from cold and sunny, wet and windy to snowing and freezing! The snow plough was a novelty to see.
Despite the weather we managed to get out and about to Blair Atholl,Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and the surrounding countryside. Evening entertainment included a clan night with full instructions on how to wear your kilt and attack the enemy and a whisky tasting night for those brave enough to partake - not me though!

did you do lots of girly bonding?

ReplyDeleteIt was nice to spend time away from the other half and time with my Mum, sis and eldest daughter who surprisingly enjoyed herself in the back of beyond!
Did you get over to Rannoch Station? We used to go for a drive up one side of the lock, have a walk around on the station and then drive back down the other side. There isn't a lot at the station except for wilderness.
ReplyDeletelove the photo's - sound like a wonderful week - would have love to seen you in your kilt :) Whiskey can't bear the smell of it had a nasty experience as a teenager with it and have never touched a drop of it since - can't even smell it - best wishes Lesley x
ReplyDeleteHi Rob - did not go over to the station cos the weather was rough and snow x2 days. Did go over the Schiehallion road which was stunning with the snow on. My sister gets up there twice a year, her lodge is on the lochside so looks over to the road on the far side.
ReplyDeleteLesley - I can't stand the 'water of life' either lol
