In Derbyshire this weekend the temperatures like most places have been bitterly cold but sadly no snow. The garden has a good frosting to it and the chickens are not venturing far but one of the Speckledlys is laying an egg on a daily basis so must be happy
Last weekend was spent celebrating my youngest daughter's 18th followed by a trip down to Dorset on the Monday to celebrate my birthday, let's just say it was not a 'special' number but that one is getting closer! We stayed in a lovely thatched cottage near to Wool and had 3 lovely days chilling, eating, walking and settling in front of a log burner each evening.We arrived to find a complimentary bottle of red wine, fresh flowers and Christmas decorations/candle including a tree! How nice is that. To the rear of the cottages was a local pub with restaurant so on my birthday we had a lovely meal sampling local faggots and homemade steak and ale pie - delicious!
On my birthday we took a short drive to Lulworth Cove and over the coastal path to Durdle Door. It was cold but dry and a much called for hot chocolate and date and walnut cake at the local cafe went down a treat.
