Catching up time

It has been another wet weekend so not much time spent out in the garden, in fact not even the hens wanted to come out earlier today and this was the only hen to be seen! Eventually the weather did improve slightly and the girls decided to have a wander outside the hen house giving me the opportunity to freshen up the bedding etc. They definately do not like the damp weather choosing to spend their time inside which in turn results in extra time needing to be spent ensuring that all is as clean as it can be in there.

When they do come out they are so funny in the way in which they interact with each other. The Boss is the Black Rock (top left), followed by the Marsh Daisy (centre) and the 2 Speckedlys. Each telling each other when they have overstepped the mark at the food hopper!

Yesterday I had a drive up to Calver in the Peak District just past Chatsworth House with my sister. We have a traditional run up there about this time each year as the Craft shop sells lovely decorations and all sorts of lovely gifts. I came away with lots of goodies! There is also a yummy cafe inside with home baked cakes etc but unfortunately we had to get back as my sister stewards for the local football team, Belper Town. It is a great scenic drive with the Emporer fountain in full flow next to the house and especially when you pass through the Devonshire's parkland and see all the deer so close to the road including a kamikaze male pheasant -still don't know how we managed to miss him!
