Another weekend spent away in the motorhome, this time with my sister! I was fortunate to be able to take a day off from work on Friday which enabled a leisurely drive down to the C & CC site near Hereford via Malvern and the Malvern hills. This is a lovely rural site near to the village of Tarrington which we spent the Saturday morning exploring and spending too much money in the lovely 'Ethos' fair trade shop tucked away up the lane, approx 100 metres from the campsite.
The village church of St Philip & St James sits in the heart of the village and provided the beautiful sound of church bell ringing on the Friday evening. I grew up in the shadow of a church with a bell tower and love the sound of church bells - not to everyone's liking I appreciate! The 2 mile stroll took us via fields full of ripening sweetcorn, through apple orchards and past beautiful cottages tucked away. Here are a few photos taken along the route of the 'Old Forge', the 500 year old Yew tree in the churchyard and a babbling brook in a cottage garden with beehives in the background.
Saturday evening was spent catching up with friends Jo and Stu from Hereford who I met in Corfu 5 years ago!
Meanwhile back in the garden, here are some pics of various flowers in the pond, garden and some of the veggies!

The butternut squash and courgettes are growing nicely and we have had so many dragon flies this year.
Just waiting for the tomatoes to ripen and the beans to get a bit bigger.
what an idealic place to go away too - thought you'd gone with Paul - Glad you and your sister had a good time - did you not visit any Pubs foir a pub lunch of course?

ReplyDeleteof course we went to the pub, the Tarrington Arms, had Scampi and chips! Went out for drinks in the evening too with friends to the New Inn in Fownhope, a lovely village. The Stowford Press cider was to die for!

ReplyDeleteYou managed to take some lovely photo's of Herefordshire. You would love the city centre and cathedral also. It was great to catch up with you again. Just hope Jenny remembered to feed the guinea pig and hens!!
Just had some lovely home grown runner beans for my dinner (however not grown by my own fair hands I must add)!!
